7 Habits Healthy People Live by that I Wish I Knew Earlier!
How many times have you caught yourself blaming these two things for not being fit? which are:
- Your gene pool
- Your swamped-up routine
The truth is these are all excuses for your lazy bum. Either you can throw in your towel or pay heed to the habits of physically and mentally fit people.
I am extremely passionate about a healthy lifestyle & Fitness. Therefore, I have been eyeing the habits of fit people. Finally, I have concluded that all fit people share almost the same habits.
I am enlisting a few common habits. These little tweaks to your daily routine are all it takes to land you on the list of those fit people.
It feels easier said than done, right?
1. Make it Easy:
Pick just one of the following habits. Incorporate it into your daily routine. Once you get that down, stack on to the next one on the list.
2. Start Your Day Early:
You have been complaining to your parents for not letting you sleep till late. But guess what?
You are back at it now with your own will. Yass! You read that right.
Early birds get the best worm and in your case a fit body. Waking up early gives you an edge to get your schedule and day sorted. You get an extra hour for exercising, journaling or planning your day for optimizing productivity.
Here, a little math for you too. 2 hours in the morning every day, make 14 hours a week (you can skip those weekends if you want to) 10 x 52= around 500+ hours in a year. Think about it. How much you can get done with this time?
Yeah! It has hit the right button now, Hasn’t it?
3. Never Skip Your Breakfast:
If you are a desi kid, you are at an edge. Skipping breakfast is never an option in our households because our brown moms are always making sure to get up early to prepare food for everyone.
Extremely grateful for that but those heavily oiled crispy parathas? A big No-No.
Follow the fit people meal plan. You can have a wholesome fiber-rich, protein, and healthy fat for breakfast to kick start your day.
There are so many science-backed benefits of breakfast. Such as the reduced risk of heart disease, diabetes, and enhanced cognitive functions. But let me focus on the one you are here for:
It helps keep the weight off for good.
4. Indulge in Real Foods:
I can understand how hard it is to stop yourself from eating those creamy plates of pasta, cheesy pizzas, loaded fries, and so many more tempting dishes from the menu when dining out.
I’m not saying you should never eat them. Once in a while treating yourself to cheat meals is good for you.
But this occasional treat should not be from Mondays to Sundays, buttercups.
Two things should be on your menu every day:
- Proteins and Fibers
2. Colors, not calories.
This way your body will perform better for your workouts, muscle recovery, and weight loss.
5. Drink those Gallons:
Having a big glass of water right after you wake up is the healthiest habit to adopt for staying fit.
Latoya Julce, New York City-based trainer and 305 Fitness instructor shared that she has at least 20 ounces of water as soon as she wakes up. It helps in cleansing the digestive system and prepares it for the day ahead.
Sometimes your brain misread your thirst with hunger. Therefore, an intake of 10–15 glasses of water daily helps you keep your metabolism surefire throughout the day.
Do you know, when it comes to habits of fit people, they’re more likely to swap nutrient-packed drinks for water, too?
6. Sync in with Your Body:
On the flip side, fitness is not always about staying active.
One of the best habits of fit people is they know when to lay off and let their body rest. Taking a day off in between your tiresome days is as equally pivotal as working your leg off.
Your body is just like a machine. Continuous work burns you out completely. Be it physical or mental.
So, it is very important to sync in with your body's needs. Listen to your body, it gives signals to you
7. Adjust Your Eating Patterns:
One minute emotional unhealthy cravings are triggered, and the next minute you start checking through those food apps.
There is always an alternate way. You can ward off emotional eating with some activities like journaling, painting, or something else to keep you hooked.
Why avoid Birthdays and Holidays to keep your fitness plan under check?
Fitting in an extra workout or skipping your dessert during the week can allow more room for party indulgences to fit into your plan without ruining it. It’s all about adjusting your routine and patterns folks!
Final Thoughts About Staying Fit:
Rome wasn’t built in a day. Remember that it takes time to build life-long habits here — and that’s a journey, not a race.
